Third Grade

Third grade is full of challenges and exciting learning experiences. During this year, children go through the process of becoming more independent with their work, at school and at home. Throughout the year students can expect to study not only the basics, but to learn a little more about many interesting and important topics. In Science class we cover a big unit on Animals and The Solar System. During this unit we do a lot of research.  In Social Studies we learn about communities. In Language Arts we do fun and creative writing assignments which students share with other grades The main event in Math is learning the Tables (0-12) To learn these, we do many activities and we wrap up the unit with a pizza party . This is also a turning point in their handwriting, for it is the year where they learn to write in cursive.  Students should expect to turn in every written assignment in cursive towards the beginning of the fourth quarter.
