Fourth Grade
Students in the Fourth Grade are invited to participate in
discussion. They are encouraged to engage in reflection and inquiry
throughout reading discussion in all disciplines. Developing reading
fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension are critical at this grade
level. Students learn skill and strategies to help develop these areas
and utilize them through the reading and writing process.
A variety of books related to students' interests and needs are
available in our reading corner. These books expose our students to the
different functions of numerous types of printed material.
Now that students have mastered the mathematical skills learned in
earlier years, they are ready to utilize such skills in a more complex
manner. Students develop algebraic concepts and thinking, collect and
organize data, work with fractions and probability, and are able to work
out long divisions and multiplications. In every Math lesson, the
critical area of problem solving is reinforced.
