Social Studies Students take a full credit of social studies each year of high school, challenging them to learn about themselves and make connections with the world around them. During a year of world history, freshmen investigate the beginnings and growth of civilizations across the continents. Sophomores question their roles in the world around them, discussing cultures, structures, inequalities and institutions of society in a semester each of sociology and economics. Researching the creation of the United States and subsequent growth through national and global struggles, juniors tackle their duties as citizens. Seniors question what it is that makes us human in a semester each of psychology and philosophy. Both parents and students can access the websites for each class. While parents will find the weekly homework postings useful to ask to see if a specific assignment is complete (as compared to simply asking if homework is done), students will be challenged by the practice quizzes and tests. To access the class websites, follow these steps: 1. Go to http://www.schoolnotes.com/ 2. Type MAZAPAN in the box for zip code (either lower or upper case letters). 3. Click go. 4. Select the class you need. |
