Music

The Mazapan School Music Program has activities during and after school.

In the classroom, the students learn to appreciate the wonderful art of  music.  They start at an early age to distinguish, identify, read, and interpret musical notes. They also learn  to appreciate different composition styles, while learning about musical history and music theory.

High school students (Grades 9th-12th) have the option of participating in our school's Band in which they must learn how to play an instrument. This year, we have worked with a modern method that includes a play-along CD for home practices.

The extra-curricular activities are:

  1. Elementary Choir
  2. High School Choir
  3. Pop Band
  4. Elementary Band

Mazapan School offers the opportunity  to build upon a child’s natural talent; we ask only for commitment and the discipline to attend all practice sessions and to practice at home.  Parents play a very important roll by encouraging their children to practice daily.

Our talented musicians perform during the following activities: The Christmas Program, school assemblies, Spring Concert, and the ABSH sponsored National  Music Festivals, to name a few.

Parents and other stakeholders work together on fundraising activities to help support the Music program.

The work is challenging, with many opportunities for students to excel as musicians.  Children’s enthusiasm for music, coupled with parental support, is the source of some of our proudest performing moments at Mazapan School.
