English
In 9th grade, the emphasis is largely on developing the students’ skills in comprehension and basic textual analysis. In this grade, students learn to identify basic literary devices and to analyze literary texts focusing on major themes and ideas presented implicitly and explicitly.

Algebra I
Algebra I builds on the arithmetic skills and algebraic thinking learned in previous math courses to formally develop an understanding of algebraic concepts as they apply to the real world. Students study the following big ideas: properties, variability, equivalence, solving equations and inequalities, proportionality, functions, and modeling. Algebra I also includes components of geometry, statistics, and probability.

Physical Science
Students will receive an introduction to physics by learning the basics about many of its areas. These include motion, force, and energy. The freshmen will also learn how to classify and understand matter. They will apply what they learn by solving a variety of scientific problems using formulas devised by major scientists that will be reviewed and broken down in class for further comprehension.

World History
In 9th grade students will examine social, cultural, and technological change during the period A.D. 1500-Present. Study will begin with the monarchs of Reformation Era Europe, the intellectual and cultural forces that made absolutism obsolete, surging nationalism and revolution, two world wars and finally culminating in the post-war world and the challenges that have arisen in the last 50 years. Each semester will end in a project that explores a major figure, event or theme related to that semester’s content.

Art
The art class for high school students focuses on concepts of design with a strong emphasis in the improvement of composition, technique, and craftsmanship. Designing and painting materials will include graphite, color pencil, oil pastels, ink, markers, tempera, and acrylic paints. The class curriculum focuses on art history, art movements, and art production.
Students will use a variety of materials to create 2D and 3Dimensional projects that will often be linked to the students’ core curriculum in other subjects so they can develop cross connections.

P.E.
Identify and describe key elements of mature performance in different organised sports.  The student will also identify appropriate and inappropriate risks involved in physical activities.

English
In 10th grade, students learn to analyze more complex literary texts than seen in 9th grade. The focus is still largely on thematic analysis of texts, but students learn to synthesize original thoughts from texts they study and to support their thoughts with strong textual evidence both in writing and in discussion settings.

Geometry
The big ideas of Geometry are visualization, transformations, measurement, reasoning and proof, similarity, and coordinate geometry. Some components of algebra and statistics/probability are also involved. There is a heavy emphasis on logical proof and critical thinking to explain geometric relationships, both new and previously studied. Students use such reasoning to solve real world problems and examine arguments.

Biology
This course focuses on the understanding of basic biological principles, such as genetics, nutrition, evolution, reproduction of various life forms, structure-function relationships, disease, diversity, integration of life systems, life cycles, and energetics. Throughout the course students will use their critical thinking and analytical skills to create prototypes, generate and carry out experimental procedures, and to support arguments for the different problems presented to them.

Psychology
In 10th grade students will focus on different types of psychologists, the different schools of psychological thought, and the varying work that is done by psychologists. The course will also focus on psychological processes, both conscious and unconscious, which influence the behavior and thinking of human beings. To think deeply about the field of psychology, one must think clearly about the questions which face psychologists, one must gather relevant and valid information which relates to those questions, one must accurately analyze the value of information gathered and one must understand the complexity of human nature.

Adicionalmente se ofrece un curso que le capacita en la argumentación de ideas.

Historia de Honduras
En este campo del conocimiento se persigue que los educandos del Bachillerato en Ciencias y Humanidades, adquieran, mediante el trabajo en el aula y en otros espacios, las competencias necesarias que permitan comprender y utilizar el conocimiento de la historia del país en función de demandas académicas y laborales que deberá enfrentar en su futuro inmediato, pero principalmente al servicio de su responsabilidad ciudadana de luchar por mejores condiciones de desarrollo personal,familiar y social en general.

In 11th grade, students make the major transition between thematic analysis and formalist analysis. They acquire the skills necessary to analyze complex literary texts by conducting close readings and looking at how an author’s craft affects the audience.

Algebra II
In Algebra II, students extend their understanding of concepts covered in Algebra I while also exploring more complex algebraic concepts that will prepare them for Precalculus the following year. The big ideas of Algebra II are properties, variables, equivalence, solving equations and inequalities, proportionality, functions, and modeling. It also includes components of statistics/probability and geometry.

Chemistry
Students learn about chemistry as the science of matter in 11th grade. They will be able to identify and describe substances based on their properties. Students will learn about different types of compounds and elements and relate them to everyday reactions that occur around them. It is the first year they will be introduced to the periodic table as a tool to help them write and balance chemical reactions. Students will learn about chemical bonding and organic chemistry. They will learn how to solve problems involving chemical formulas and quantities.

U.S. History
In 11th grade students will examine social, cultural, and technological change during the period A.D. 1865-Present. Study will begin with the end of the Civil War and the beginning of the Reconstruction of the South, will move North to look at Industrialization/Urbanization and the Progressive Movement that served as a response and release to those trends; looks East at the burgeoning conflict on continental Europe and then returns West for the end of the war and the opening of the Roaring Twenties. We will look in-depth at the Great Depression, its causes and cures and then end the year with a study of the Second World War, the Post-War boom and the beginning of the Cold War. Each Semester will end in a project that explores a major figure, event or theme related to that semester’s content.
