English/ Reading
In 5th grade Reading, the emphasis is on continuing to develop students’ abilities to comprehend literature and informational texts at their grade level, sound out words phonetically, read fluently, and build academic vocabulary.  Students routinely write in accordance to the task, purpose, audience, and expectation of specific writing styles, while applying grammar skills and conventions.  In 5th grade English, students are encouraged to engage in a variety of conversational structures to promote fluency in a second language. Students further develop in their English abilities by identifying various parts of speech, learning about common word roots and affixes, understanding word relationships, and analyzing figures of speech.

Math
In the 5th grade Math the focus is on Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. Students develop their ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. They use their creativity to develop a project that shows their comprehension and analysis in any topic of these four areas.

Science
In 5th grade Science the focus is on Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science. As students are introduced to the different topics, they will use their critical thinking and analytical skills to create prototypes, generate hypotheses /experiments/ solutions, and to support arguments for the different problems/ topics presented to them.

Social Studies
The focus of 5th grade Social Studies is geography. Students learn how to use maps and images to obtain geographical information about the world, apply the concepts of location, scale, map projection, and orientation, and compare political, physical, and thematic maps. As a class, students also analyze how physical and ecological processes shape the Earth’s surface.  In addition to the physical characteristics of geography, students will compare and contrast population growth, analyze migration patterns, identify commonly used resources, distinguish between developing and developed countries, and examine economic patterns.

En la asignatura de Español de quinto grado se desarrollan las habilidades básicas a través de la comprensión, análisis y redacción de leyendas, anuncios publicitarios, noticias, poemas, fábulas, historietas, textos funcionales, entre otros, procurando la legibilidad, orden, aseo, correcto uso de la  semántica  y la ortografía. Se analizan algunos elementos de la comunicación. Todos los trabajos realizados por los estudiantes se comparten con los demás cumpliendo así con enfoque comunicativo de la lengua.

Estudios Sociales
Estudios Sociales de 5to. Grado se enfoca en el estudio de Valores humanos, democracia, Geografía de América, Situación ambiental, conocimientos históricos y evolución de la humanidad tratando de crear conciencia y mejoramiento de la sociedad, aportando soluciones e innovando para vivir en un mundo mejor.

Art
5th grade art class focus is in the use of a variety of materials and media, for example, crayons, chalk, paint, clay, various kinds of papers, textiles, and yarns, understanding how to use these materials to produce different visual effects. At the same time, students create artwork in a variety of two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) media, for example: 2D – drawing, painting, and collage. Students learn and use appropriate vocabulary related to methods, materials, and techniques.Students also learn to take care of materials and tools and to use them safely.

P.E.
In 5th grade, there is a big focus in PE is on positive social interaction. Students will also focus on correct body movement during game play.

Music
Student learn to read, play music notes and create harmony with their soprano recorders. We still sing, play games and implement different activities along the year. At the end of the school year they have a final recorder recital.

English/ Reading
In 6th grade, Reading, the emphasis is on using novels to develop students’ abilities to comprehend literature and informational texts at their grade level, sound out words phonetically, read fluently, and build academic vocabulary.  In addition, sixth grade students analyze common literary devices, author's intentions, and common themes in literature.  Students routinely write in accordance to the task, purpose, audience, and expectation of specific writing styles, while applying grammar skills and conventions.  In 6th grade English, students are encouraged to engage in a variety of conversational structures to promote fluency in a second language.  Students further develop in their English abilities by identifying more complex parts of speech, learning about challenging word roots and affixes, strengthening their understanding of word relationships, and analyzing figures of speech.

Math
In the 6th grade, Math the focus is on Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. Students develop their ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.They use their creativity to develop a project that shows their comprehension and analysis in any topic of these four areas.

Social Studies
The focus of 6th grade Social Studies is civics.  In this class, students will demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of constitutional governments, the political process at the local, state, and national level, and basic economic principles.  Most importantly, students will practice the rights and responsibilities of being an active citizen.

P.E.
The students will have a basic knowledge of how to warm up specific muscle groups for different activities and why this is important.The student will be able to contribute and listen to ideas in game situations.

Music
Student learn to sing and play guitar, music history and participate  performing with their guitars on the school assemblies.

Technology
Students will learn to create presentations using Google Slides and more advanced presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint.  Students learn to use additional G-Suite applications, including: Google Drive, Google Forms, and Google Keep.

The two principal aims of the 7th Grade English class are to improve the level of English fluency that students have acquired in Elementary school and to help prepare students for the elevated standards of High School English classes. Fluency is augmented gradually by working on exercises, projects, quizzes, class lectures and discussions that all involve one of the four areas of learning: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Specific areas of study include vocabulary, literature, grammar, spelling, writing, literacy instruction (how to find and evaluate accurate information) and technology instruction (Projects created on various computer programs).

Math
In 7th grade Math, the focus is on Operations and Algebraic Thinking, The Real and Complex Number Systems, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Students develop their ability to solve multi-step real-world and mathematical problems with positive and negative rational numbers. They also develop a more complete understanding of variables and expressions as they see patterns in the structure of inequalities. They use their creativity to develop a project that shows their comprehension and analysis in any topic of these four areas.

Science
In 7th grade Science, the emphasis is on Life Science. To enhance the learning process students will be taught to achieve in the following categories in science education: scientific knowledge, scientific methods, social issues, personal needs, and career awareness.

Social Studies
In 7th grade Social Studies, we focus on Ancient World History, from the beginnings of civilization up until the Renaissance. In addition to learning about history students begin developing skills in public speaking, preparing presentations, digger deeper into historical areas of interest and expressing themselves as both orators and writers.

The student will be able to recognise and demonstrate basic strategies in game like situations. The students will be able to analyze possible solutions to a movement problem in a cooperative physical activity and come to a consensus on the best solution.

Music
Students continue singing and playing guitar, discovering the important contributions of the great musicians in music history. They also participate in various guitar performances during school assemblies.

English
The 8th Grade English program continues the work started in the 7th Grade, but extra emphasis is placed on the notion of preparing students for High School English classes. Fluency is augmented gradually, but the exercises, projects, quizzes, and tests are more challenging than in the previous year. Specific areas of study include vocabulary, literature, grammar, spelling, writing, literacy instruction (how to find and evaluate accurate information) and technology instruction (Projects created on various computer programs).

Math
In the 8th grade Math the focus is on Operations and Algebraic Thinking, The Real and Complex Number Systems, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Students develop their ability to solve multi-step real world and mathematical problems with positive and negative rational numbers. They apply their understanding of the Pythagorean Theorem to find unknown side lengths of right triangles when determining the volume of three-dimensional figures. They use their creativity to develop a project that shows their comprehension and analysis in any topic of these four areas.

Science
In 8th grade, students learn about many important fields of earth and physical science. To prepare them for high school sciences, students get a basic overview of areas of physics and chemistry. The topics they will study include states of matter, bonds and reactions, motion, energy, and understanding the universe. Students learn how to solve math problems involving many of the concepts they study, successfully devising scientific problem solving strategies throughout the course.

Social Studies
In 8th grade Social Studies we focus on Early United States History, from the beginnings of native civilization up until the Pre-Civil War Era. In addition to learning about history students begin developing skills in public speaking, preparing presentations, digger deeper into historical areas of interest and expressing themselves as both orators and writers.

Grado se enfoca en el estudio de Valores humanos, democracia, Geografía de América, Situación ambiental, conocimientos históricos y evolución de la sociedad americana  tratando de crear conciencia y mejoramiento de la sociedad americana, aportando soluciones y aplicando valores para vivir en una sociedad más segura

Art
8th grade art class is a course for students to further explore all areas of art.  This class allows them to transition into high school art with a strong background knowledge.  They continue to develop their skills using different elements of art, such as: line, color, texture, space, shape, form, and value.  Various artists (both past and present) are studied to strengthen their problem-solving, evaluating and decision making skills to enhance the required knowledge.

P.E.
Students will be able to identify strategies of what to do when a defensive player is applying pressure in many different activities.  The student will be able to recognise individual responsibility for physical education.

Music
Students conclude their musical formation in the music class with a final guitar concert. They showcase their developed musical abilities by singing with choral techniques and playing guitar in a popular style.
