Kids aren’t able to process what’s happening the same way that adults are. Their brain literally isn’t capable. Be on the lookout for these types of behaviors and reassure them that what they’re feeling is okay. Validate their feelings and ask them questions about what they think is happening. Correct any misinformation they might have received. Above all, remember that their world has been turned upside down too. You’re their constant, and the tone you set in your home is what they will look back on in 10, 20, 50 years and remember. Be gentle with them. Be gentle with yourself. Remember. You’re not alone.
